Welbeck Publishing Group acquires Robert Ingpen’s backlist.
January 15, 2021Robert Ingpen’s backlist, which includes illustrated editions of Peter Pan, Treasure Island and Alice in Wonderland will now form the basis of Welbeck Children’s Classics, a new list dedicated to publishing and celebrating the finest books for children of all ages. Launching later in the year Welbeck Children’s Classics will feature new titles including a new book illustrated by Ingpen.
The Magic of Alice in Wonderland Exhibition. Japan
March 2019 to September 2020
This wonderful exhibition is touring seven venues in Japan over the next 18 months. Robert Ingpen has 15 illustrations featured in the ‘Alice’s Story’ section. ‘Alice’s Story’ displays illustration by seven world-renowned illustrators, each given a section of the story to cover. Robert’s pictures illustrate the final two chapters of Alice in Wonderland.
‘The Magic Bookcase’ Mural
January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018Early in 2018 Robert Ingpen completed a mural which is now donated by him to the National Library of Australia under the Cultural Arts Program of Australia. The large painting depicts a bookcase without any books. The shelves are filled with characters from classical stories who, through the imagination of the illustrator, are borrowed from the pages of books where they traditionally belong. Robert Ingpen was filmed and recorded while creating this mural. The result will soon be available as an on-line ‘Masterclass’ in storybook art and theory.
Hans Christian Andersen Awards, 50th Anniversary Exhibition. Shenzhen
August 8, 2018 - October 24, 2018Over 300 original artworks of children’s book illustrations from 25 winners of the Hans Christian Andersen Awards are on display at The Sea World Culture and Arts Centre, Shenzhen China. This is the fourth destination of a world tour to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Hans Christian Anderson Awards. Robert Ingpen has 19 illustrations on display in this exhibition and his illustration of The Ugly Duckling features as the key promotional illustration.

October 3, 2017 - January 29, 2018An exhibition of 22 original watercolour illustrations created by Robert Ingpen for his acclaimed Children’s Classic Series of books are on display at the Epworth Art Gallery, Epworth Hospital Waurn Ponds, Geelong. Illustrations from Alice In Wonderland, Alice through the Looking Glass, Peter Pan and Wendy, Wind in The Willows and others are on display until January 2018.

This is the third destination of a world tour to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Hans Christian Anderson Awards. Robert Ingpen has 12 illustrations on display in this exhibition and his illustration of The Ugly Duckling features on the steps of the National Library.
